ABMB was tasked to work on the design for the Carrollton Levee Enlargement and Floodwall project―an implementation of the work that was recommended as part of the Flood Control Mississippi River and Tributaries Project. The project is part of the effort to restore current authorized flood protection levels for the Mississippi River Levee Project. The scope of the project includes the enlargement of approximately 10,450 linear feet of earthen levees and construction of approximately 2,850 linear feet of new floodwall, including vehicular and pedestrian flood gates, in the Orleans Levee District. The project limits extend through the New Orleans District Corps of Engineers compound.
ABMB provided surveying services and prepared a design report for three alternative floodwall alignments for review. For the selected alignment, ABMB prepared plans and specifications, including design of floodgates, review of impacted utilities, quantities and cost estimates, and extensive coordination between all agencies involved with the project.
