Natchez Continuous Flow Intersection (CFI) Opens

After three years of discussion, construction and asphalt, motorists traveling around the junction of Sergeant S. Prentiss and John R. Junkin drives experienced their first day on the continuous flow intersection.

The continuous flow intersection opened to the public for the first time Thursday at approximately 1 p.m.

DOTD Explains Ramp Controls

The meters, which would be the first of their kind in Louisiana, are aimed at making it easier to merge onto the interstate.

They will force vehicles to proceed one at a time along entrance ramps onto I-12, roughly at four-second intervals.

State plans signals to ease I-12 entries

The state plans to put traffic signals on entrance ramps along Interstate 12 between Baton Rouge and Walker to ease congestion, officials said Friday.

The aim is to create space between vehicles merging onto the interstate, which is undergoing a $131 million widening project from O’Neal Lane through Juban Road.

New CFI scheduled for construction in Lafayette, Louisiana

A major redesign planned for the intersection of Johnston Street and Camellia Boulevard might look strange, but a similar intersection in Baton Rouge appears to have improved traffic flow and reduced crashes.

Louisiana Receives Award for Continuous Flow Intersection Design

The National Partnership for Highway Quality (NPHQ) has selected Louisiana's Continuous Flow Intersection (CFI) Design, Siegen at Airline in Baton Rouge as a 2007 National Achievement Award Gold Level winner. Project partners include the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (LADOTD); the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA); the city of Baton Rouge; construction manager Coastal Contractors; and designer ABMB Engineers, Inc.

ABMB and MDOT Win Best of Show at ITSA World Congress

ABMB, in coordination with the Mississippi Department of Transportation, won the Intelligent Transportation Society of America (ITSA) 2008 World Congress Best of Show in the Best New Innovative Practices category.  The project awarded was the U.S. Hwy. 90 signal design from East Biloxi to Pass Christian in Mississippi, for repairs and improvements made in reconnecting communities along Mississippi’s Gulf Coast in the wake of the devastating 2005 hurricane season.
