Former Causeway GM tapped to lead ABMB

ABMB Engineers, Inc. opened a new office in the New Orleans Central Business District on Aug. 1 to better serve their clients in the southeast Louisiana region.

This office will be ABMB’s sixth location, joining the company headquarters in Baton Rouge, and its offices in Jackson, Vicksburg, and Madison, Miss., and Mobile, Ala.

To head the New Orleans operations, ABMB has hired Robert Lambert, the recently retired general manager of the Causeway Commission. Lambert’s long record of experience with public works and toll facilities are ideal in assisting ABMB’s efforts in the New Orleans area.

Lambert worked with the Causeway from 1971 to 1991, starting as a police officer and eventually becoming general manager, then returning in 2000 to again serve as GM until his retirement in late 2009. During his tenure with the Causeway, Lambert successfully improved safety and capacity on the world’s longest bridge.

In 1971 about 2 million cars crossed the bridge per year.

After implementing ramp, capacity and technological improvements, the current rate is about 14 million per year.

Lambert is also responsible for the Causeway’s ability to boast an exceptional safety record – including a period of zero accident fatalities from 1987 to 1991.

ABMB Engineers is a civil engineering consulting firm that provides roadway, bridge, site, civil, traffic, transportation, and civil works design services, as well as survey and right-of--way capabilities, for private and public clientele. The company employs over 130 people in six offices across the Gulf South.

The new offices will be located in the Freeport-McMoRan building on Poydras Street.

In his new capacity with ABMB Engineers, Mr. Lambert fulfills several roles, including business development, client relations, marketing, operations management in the New Orleans area, and more.
