FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Principal, Michael G. Bruce to Speak at Mississippi Transportation Institute Conference

Baton Rouge, Louisiana, September 1, 2004 – ABMB Engineers, Inc., a leader in transportation and civil engineering, announced today that Mr. Michael G. Bruce, P.E. and Principal of the firm, will be a presenter at the 5th Annual Mississippi Transportation Institute (MTI) Conference at The Beau Rivage Resort on Wednesday, November 10th.

Mr. Bruce’s presentation at the MTI Conference will provide an in-depth look at the Continuous Flow Intersection (CFI) design, highlighting benefits, giving the design’s history, and illustrating various applications and projects. The innovative new design is being considered by dozens of agencies across the nation and provides a long term, cost effective solution for reduction of traffic congestion. Using Vissim® software, Mr. Bruce will demonstrate the design’s ability to alleviate traffic congestion in a typical urban interchange.

Earlier this year, ABMB was selected by the Louisiana Department of Transportation Development to implement the innovative Continuous Flow Intersection (CFI) on Airline Highway, a major congested arterial in Baton Rouge. When compared to earlier plans of a widened arterial, simulations of the CFI showed significant improvements in traffic flow and save the agency about $7 million in construction costs.

Mr. Bruce is a Civil Engineering graduate from Louisiana State University and is currently the principal of ABMB Engineering, Inc. The firm provides civil/site design, traffic engineering, structural design, sewage and water, bridge design and inspection, drainage, highway/roadway design, and surveying to a variety of municipal, state, federal and commercial clients. They include the Federal Highway Administration and the departments of transportation in Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Arkansas, and Virginia; the cities of Baton Rouge, Jackson and Shreveport; and such companies as Exxon Refinery, Walgreen’s and Blue Cross/Blue Shield. The firm is based in Baton Rouge and has offices in Jackson and Vicksburg, Mississippi.
